paul-f-hahn-mc-meeting-clyde-ncI recently read a very interesting article about maintaining the accuracy of fine grading done with motorgraders. Written by Curt Bennink, senior field editor for Equipment Today; this article discusses moldboard systems and the problems that can contribute to an incorrect final grade.  Blade wear and machine slop are discussed as well as ways to mitigate these issues. Many experts are consulted in the article including product managers and application specialists from Volvo, Caterpillar and Deere Construction and Forestry Division.  Included topics are : cutting edge wear, excessive play in the moldboard system, cutting edge thickness and cutting edge composition.  These issues need to be understood and addressed if you want to realize optimum results from an automated motorgrader system.  Use the link below to read this article.  I hope it will broaden your insights.
